Homelands Productions is an independent, non-profit journalism cooperative specializing in radio features and documentaries. Its mission is to illuminate complex issues through compelling broadcasts, articles, books, and educational forums, and to foster freedom of expression and creative risk through the media arts.

Since its founding in 1989, Homelands has reported from more than 60 countries, produced eight major series for national broadcast on US public radio and television networks, and won 22 national and international awards. Its producer members are Sandy Tolan, Alan Weisman, Cecilia VaismanJonathan Miller, Ruxandra Guidi, and Bear Guerra.

Homelands Productions is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization based in Tucson, Arizona; it is currently operating out of a project office in Ithaca, NY. Homelands also runs workshops and trainings, and serves as fiscal sponsor for a small number of independent journalism projects.

Some funding comes in the form of acquisition fees from broadcasters, including American Public Media, NPR, and Public Radio International.
